What’s in a name

11:28 a.m. — Southbound Interstate 95, Mile Marker 284, Palm Coast

False identification. A 46-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested in Palm Coast after he was caught walking along the shoulder of Interstate 95 by a Florida Highway Patrol trooper.

The trooper found the man walking near mile marker, and stopped and asked the man where he was going, according to an arrest report. The man told the trooper he was walking to the next exit.

The trooper offered the man a ride, but needed his name first. The man told the trooper his name was “Eminem Reices Pieces reese reese reese reese Ho Lil’ Smith n’ Wesson,” the report said. He insisted this was his real name, and was placed under arrest for providing a false name to law enforcement.

When the trooper positively identified him, he found the man had last been in contact with law enforcement in March 2025, again for walking along the interstate.

Just too lazy

2:22 a.m. — 100 block of South 7th Street, Flagler Beach

DUI. A suspect’s laziness led to him being arrested on a DUI charge.

A police officer on patrol noticed the suspect driving east on Moody Boulevard, recklessly rapidly accelerating before turning onto South Central Avenue. The officer followed the car and saw it had an expired tag on the back, according to an arrest report.

The officer pulled the driver over in a nearby parking lot and then noticed a valid license plate displayed in the car’s back windshield. The officer asked the suspect why it wasn’t properly attached to the car, and the suspect said he “was just too lazy” to put it on.

That’s when the officer noticed the suspect was slurring his words and smelled of alcohol. The suspect admitted to recently drinking at a local bar before he drove a friend home, the report said.

The officer took the suspect through a field sobriety test, where he failed every part — at one point counting to 40 seconds instead of 30 seconds as he was directed to, because he “was a fast counter.”

The man was placed under arrest on charges of DUI and refusal of a breathalyzer.
