Crash, flee, then deny everything
11:42 p.m. — Evolve Parkway, Palm Coast

DUI. A Palm Coast woman was arrested after deputies say she crashed her car into a garage, fled the scene on foot and was later found walking along U.S. 1 while intoxicated.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to an apartment complex on Evolve Parkway after receiving a report of a vehicle crashing into a closed garage. Witnesses told deputies the driver of a white Ford sedan left the scene, parked elsewhere in the complex and ran into nearby woods. One witness said he watched the woman drive around the parking lot screaming before crashing into the garage and fleeing. Another witness captured the incident on cellphone video.

Deputies later located the 35-year-old woman walking north along U.S. 1. She denied being involved in the crash, claiming she had been walking from a nearby vape shop. Deputies noted she had slurred speech, watery eyes and a strong odor of alcohol. Witnesses later positively identified her as the driver involved in the crash.

The woman initially declined to answer questions but later agreed to provide a breath sample after deputies read Florida's implied consent warning. Breath tests measured blood alcohol levels of 0.126 and 0.119, both above the legal limit. Investigators also determined she did not have a valid driver's license.

She was arrested on charges of DUI with property damage, leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage and driving without a valid driver's license.

106 mph lands driver in jail
2:56 a.m. — Interstate 95 South, Palm Coast

Traffic offense. A Jacksonville man was arrested after deputies clocked him driving 106 mph on Interstate 95 and discovered he had a suspended driver's license with multiple active suspensions.

According to the arrest report, a deputy conducting speed enforcement near mile marker 284 on Interstate 95 observed a black sedan traveling at what appeared to be 105 mph in a 70 mph zone. Radar confirmed the vehicle was traveling 106 mph before the deputy initiated a traffic stop near mile marker 281.

The 24-year-old driver told the deputy he had left his driver's license at home. A records check revealed his Florida driver's license had been suspended and canceled, with three active suspensions, including one for failure to pay a traffic fine. Deputies also determined he had two prior convictions for driving while his license was suspended.

He was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended as a second or subsequent offense and dangerous excessive speeding of 100 mph or more. Another licensed driver who was riding in the vehicle drove it away from the scene.
