'A little buzzed'

DUI. Police arrested a 37-year-old Ormond Beach man who hit a pedestrian while drunk driving and then told police that he had been drinking on the beach and was "a little buzzed."

According to his arrest report, during the investigation, bystanders began discussing the possibility that someone was dumping out alcohol after the crash. In response, the man said that he had drank this afternoon and that he "probably shouldn't have been driving."

He agreed to perform field sobriety exercises, which he either failed or was unable to complete. The pedestrian involved in the crash was transported to the hospital.

Burglary. A 39-year-old Daytona Beach man was arrested on burglary charges after entering an empty hotel room, claiming to be working for a "three-letter agency."

Police report that the hotel's security guard advised he was patrolling the parking lot when he spotted a sedan in the fire lane on May 19. While investigating the vehicle, he heard men yelling from the fourth floor and eventually saw the suspect kicking a door down from an empty room.

Surveillance footage later showed the man getting out of his car and putting on a black tactical vest before the burglary. He returned to his car with what looked like paper in his right hand and a black object in his left, but the police report didn't identify what they were.

Police made contact with the suspect on May 20 after he returned to the hotel and was later apprehended during a traffic stop. During the transport, the man told officers about "being in that place to do a search warrant" and claiming he worked for a "three-letter agency."

He declined to answer more questions and was taken to jail.
