Cell block mischief

9:26 p.m. — 1000 block of Justice Lane, Flagler County

Criminal mischief, property damage. An inmate at the county jail found himself in hot water after he set off the sprinkler system across an entire cell block.

The inmate was placed in a cell alone that morning. That afternoon, according to his arrest report, security camera footage from the cellblock caught the inmate pacing in front of the cell  door, watching for Sheriff’s Office deputies, for around 15 minutes.

Then, the camera footage caught the inmate walking to the rear of the cell and standing on a fixed chair. Suddenly, the cellblock’s entire sprinkler system went off, the report said.

Later, when deputies asked the inmate about it, he said he “only poked” the sprinkler head, thinking it was a camera, the report said. The inmate was re-arrested and charged with criminal mischief.

The inmate was originally arrested for violating a domestic violence injunction.

Gas station aggressions

11:01 p.m. — 1500 block of Palm Coast Parkway

Burglary with battery. A 40-year-old Palm Coast woman found herself under arrest after an argument at a gas station ended with her slapping a phone out of a man’s hand.

Sheriff’s Office deputies were called out to the gas station by the victim, according to her arrest report. The victim said the argument started when the suspect’s truck cut him in line to the gas station.

The victim then circled around to get the truck’s license plate on video, and that’s when the woman jumped out of the car and ran up to the victim’s car, reaching in and slapping the phone out of his hand.

The victim caught the act on video and showed it to deputies. Because the woman reached into the victim’s car, the deputies charged her with burglary and battery, a felony. The woman was taken to the county jail.
