Dr. Milton Oliver Vassell of Palm Coast passed away the evening of May 14, 2026. He was surrounded by the love and presence of his children, Sheldon Vassell and Karyn Velez. Milton was born in Buff Bay, Jamaica, West Indies on May 8, 1931 and lived his formative years there. He immigrated to the United States to attend New York University in 1955 where he received his doctorate in Theoretical Physics and met his beloved wife, Dorine (Black). Dorine passed away in 2019.
Milton is survived by his beloved children, Sheldon Vassell and Karyn Velez, his son-in-law, Daniel Velez and granddaughter, Amelia Velez and other loving family and friends.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Thursday, May 21, 2026 for a homegoing celebration at the Palm Coast United Methodist Church located at 6500 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida, 32137. Viewing will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and the service will be held at 11:00 a.m. A “Celebration of Life” reception will immediately follow the service in the church’s reception hall.
