Three generations of women — grandmother Dr. Margaret DiGaetano, daughter Anne Ellery and her daughter Vivienne Ellery — were selected as Ormond Memorial Art Museum’s featured family from the museum's May 1 Free Family Art Night event.
"My mom, my daughter and I had a wonderful time at the Free Family Art Night," Anne Ellery said in a statement to the museum. "Vivienne has been showing an interest in art, especially learning to draw, so when I saw the anouncement for the event I thought it would be a great opportunity to do something creative together. My mom has always had a passion for drawing and has been especially happy to see Vivienne enjoying art too. Mom knows first hand how much of an impact art can have. She has often attributed the manual dexterity that she developed through drawing vital to her career as an eye surgeon."
The family enjoyed the activity of painting leaves and pressing onto paper to make prints.
"Vivienne's favorite part was discovering how many different patterns and effects we could create, which got us thinking about other things we might use to make prints at home," Anne Ellery said. "Museum instructors and volunteers were kind and helpful. We had such a good time that we would definitely love to attend again!"
OMAM’s Family Art Night takes place from 5:30-7 p.m. on most first Fridays of the month. All art supplies are provided. All ages are welcome. The next event will be held on June 5.
