Burglary. Deputies responded to a home in unincorporated Flagler County after a 41-year-old woman and her son found an unknown man inside.
According to an arrest report, the man left and walked into the woods after he was discovered. Inside the home, deputies found an open jar of jelly with a used spoon in the kitchen, as well as a mountain dew and half-full container of strawberry yogurt on the counter in front of a TV in the screened-in porch. Both items had condensation on them, indicating they had recently been removed from a refrigerator, the report states.
The suspect, a 41-year-old Las Vegas man, was later found in the tree line near North U.S. 1 and Eagle Rock Road. The man told them he had been hitchhiking in Florida for the past two to three weeks, and admitted to using a pipe to break a window and enter the home. He told deputies he was hungry and thirsty, and said he also swam in the pool behind the home, in which he was in for about an hour before the homeowner arrived.
He was arrested and taken to jail.
