Petit theft. Police arrested a 30-year-old Palm Coast man who stole a backpack on the beach containing AirPods, which helped officers track him down.
The victim had set his backpack down on the sand before entering the water, returning half an hour later to find it gone, according to the man's arrest report. The victim tracked his AirPods to the library, where he met up with police and his father.
The backpack was found on a bench outside the library entrance, but the victim's AirPods were still missing, as well as $75. So, the victim looked at his AirPod's location once again, and this time, tracked them to a local grocery store.
Officers spoke with the Palm Coast man, who was sitting outside the store on a bench. As police spoke with him, the man denied stealing the AirPods, but when the victim pinged them, a sound came from the man's pocket.
He then confessed to the theft and was placed under arrest. He was taken to jail.

Trespass. A deputy was performing a security check in a local neighborhood park when he saw a barefoot woman in floral pajamas and "something black" covering her hair.
According to an arrest report, because she wasn't causing a disturbance — in fact, she was picking up trash on the ground of the park — the deputy didn't approach her. Then, about an hour later, the deputy received a call about a suspicious person in the area.
The description matched the woman he saw earlier that morning. The woman, a 53-year-old from Bunnell, was located and apprehended. She had a trespass warning from the park from 2024.
