A Flagler County Sheriff's Office commander was among 39 graduates to complete the Florida Sheriffs Association's Commonders Academy on May 23.

FCSO's Special Operations Cmdr. Jonathan Dopp has working at the FCSO since 2006, when he joined as a patrol deputy. The Commanders Academy is a "premier course of executive study" for Florida Sheriff's Office leaders, a FCSO press release said.

The two-week course teaches a variety of curriculums focusing on leadership, ethics, discipline, and additional subject matter areas related to upper-level leadership in law enforcement, and courses focused on emerging issues, the press release said.

“I’m proud of Commander Jonathan Dopp for his dedication to our community and successful completion of the Florida Sheriffs Association Commanders Academy,” said Sheriff Rick Staly. “The class continues to maintain a standard of excellence the FCSO is proud to be part of."

Dopp transferred to the Investigative Services Division as a detective in 2014 and in 2018, transferred to the Problem Area Crime Enforcement Unit as a sergeant, the press release said. In 2021, he was promoted to commander of the Special Operations Unit, and in 2024, he received the Specialty Service Award.
