Trespass from school grounds. An off-duty law enforcement officer called to report a suspicious person walking around a high school campus on a Saturday morning.

When the Sheriff’s Office deputy arrived, he found a shirtless man laying down on a bench in front of one of the buildings. When the deputy asked the man what he was doing at the school, the man said he lived nearby and wanted to ask if he could use the track at the school to work out, according to the man’s arrest report.

The man also told the deputy he was looking to buy a hotdog at the concession stand. At the time, a private event was taking place at the school, though the suspect did not attempt to enter the event or speak to anyone, the report said.

The deputy arrested the man for trespassing and taken to the county jail.

Man who cried lawyer

DUI with property damage. A Palm Coast man who drove over a fence in Flagler Beach would not stop screaming “lawyer” as Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested him.

A witness saw the suspect drive through a fence at a campground on Old Kings Road and then drove away from the scene, according to an arrest report. He continued to flee even as deputies began following him until he was eventually stopped in a hotel parking lot.

From there, the suspect refused to cooperate with deputies, forcing them to pull the suspect from his truck and place him in a patrol car. The suspect — who smelled strongly of alcohol and had slurred speech — refused to take a field sobriety test and demanded a lawyer.

As deputies tried to close the patrol car door to take the suspect in, the man began screaming “lawyer” repeatedly, even as officers explained he would not get a lawyer at the scene, the report said. The entire way to the county jail and through the booking process, the man continued to scream “lawyer, lawyer" repeatedly.

At one point, the man screamed “lawyer” 24 times in a one-minute period, the deputy noted in the report. The suspect has been charged with a DUI and resisting arrest.
