Man claims he didn't know he hit a school bus

4:26 p.m. —  I-95 near mile marker 273

Leaving the scene of a crash with damage to property. A 75-year-old Ormond Beach man was stopped by deputies on an exit ramp on I-95 after he fled a crash on State Road 100.

According to his arrest report, the man told deputies that he knew he had struck something "but wasn't sure what it was." The man had hit rear-ended a school bus, which had been stopped at a red light.

Witnesses told law enforcement that the man had been driving in and out of lanes in an aggressive and unsafe manner until he exited the interstate. He was transported first to the hospital to be medically-cleared, and then was sent to jail.

Drunk driver was 'dying'

1:41 a.m. — State Road 100, east of Roberts Road, Flagler Beach

DUI. A trooper was stationed on the Flagler Beach bridge when a truck traveling at 60 mph passed by, and the trooper conducted a traffic stop. Upon first speaking with the driver, a 36-year-old Ormond Beach man, the trooper noticed the smell of alcohol. The trooper asked the man how much he'd had to drink, and the man said a couple of beers, according to his arrest report.

He was asked to perform a series of field sobriety exercises, and the man agreed. He failed the exercises, and complained of having a panic attack and "dying" while completing them. The trooper noted that the man "was not breathing heavily, he never lost consciousness and he was alert and responsive the entire time."

Paramedics checked him over and deemed he was not dying, nor was he suffering from a panic attack.

He was taken to jail.

Getting rid of evidence

1:54 a.m. — Intersection of Water Oak Road and Mahogany Boulevard, Bunnell

Possession of cocaine. A 54-year-old Oak Hill woman was stopped by a deputy for driving 42 mph in a 30 mph zone. The woman was already on probation, and was arrested as she had no permission to leave Volusia and be in Flagler County.

While sat in the rear of the deputy's patrol vehicle, security footage caught her removing a plastic bag from her person and try to ingest its substance. She was unsuccessful, according to her arrest report, and she dropped the bag between the seat and door of the passenger compartment. She told police she had hidden the bag, which contained cocaine, in her jeans and had forgotten she had it.

This was deemed to be a lie, as a text message later revealed she was intending to sell the drugs.
