Man buys old credit card on the internet

1:02 a.m. — I-95 at the Palm Coast Parkway exit ramp, Palm Coast

Possession of ID of another without authorization. A deputy was notified of a vehicle that matched the description of one utilized in a series of diesel thefts and spotted its driver, a 27-year-old man from Orlando, pumping diesel into a container in the bed of his pickup truck at local gas station.

The deputy then observed him leave the gas station, and conducted a traffic stop at the I-95 ramp shortly afterward. According to an arrest report, as the deputy approached the vehicle, he noticed a spilled liquid all over a black tank in the bed of the truck. The man, who didn't speak English, called his girlfriend to be able to translate for him.

The man denied ownership of the truck, saying it belonged to his stepfather and that he uses the tanks to fuel semitrucks, as his stepfather is a truck driver. The deputy questioned why he only spent around $2 at the gas station, and the man said that gas was too expensive and decided not to continue to fill the tanks.

When the deputy asked to see the card he used for the transaction, he also observed a white credit card that the man didn't provide. The man said he bought it online and was advised to only use it for fuel; the card no longer works.

Deputies discovered the card expired in 2005 and belonged to someone else. As the man admitted he had used it in the past to purchase fuel, he was arrested and taken to jail.
