Thief removes A/C unit, sneaks into funeral home, steals $5 in change

8:28 a.m. 500 block of Old Kings Road South. Burglary: Employees at a funeral home opened up the business in the morning and noticed that objects inside the office had been moved, although the deadbolt was locked overnight. A manager checked the property and saw that the air conditioning unit and the siding around it was disturbed, and told a deputy that it looked like someone had removed the A/C to get into the building. The only thing missing was $5 in change.

For the birds

9:24 a.m. 100 block of Whippoorwill Drive. Larceny: A 37-year-old woman wanted to get an Eclectus parrot for her father, and began negotiating with an online private seller who said he had a female one. The seller told her to wire a total of $490 for the bird, which she did. The seller then told the woman that the bird would be delivered June 3. But it wasn't. Instead, someone called her demanding more money. She called the Sheriff's Office.

Burglar makes off with medications, 18-pack of beer

11:11 p.m. 13800 block of State Road 100 West. Residential burglary: A woman was home with her kids the night of June 2 when she heard what sounded like someone at her front door. She assumed it was her husband, and went to the door but didn't see anyone there. She checked to see that the home's doors were locked — finding a rear door unlocked, and locking it — then went to sleep. On June 5, she needed an over-the-counter medicine and checked her medicine cabinet.  A bin she'd kept her medications in was missing, along with the meds. Meanwhile, her husband got home, mowed the lawn, and went inside for a beer and discovered that an 18-pack of beer was missing, too. The couple called the Sheriff's Office.
