$500 sunglasses stolen amidst string of mischief at RV park

12:14 p.m. 3500 block of Old Kings Road South. Car break-in: Someone broke into a 64-year-old man's Ford Falcon at an RV park and stole just one thing — a $500 pair of Costa sunglasses — in the midst of a string of mischief that occurred while a large party was held at two of the campground's cabins. The victim, who lives at the campground, told deputies he'd seen someone in his car the night of Feb. 19, according to a Sheriff's Office case report. When he got the the car, the glasses were gone and the thief had removed the car's gas cap and switched on the battery by the trunk. The man told a deputy that there had been a large party at a couple of nearby cabins that night, and that other odd things had happened at the park: One resident found a machete in front of their home by the front door, and another had their golf cart removed from their lot. The cart was later found down the street. Park staff told the deputy that the two cabins had been trashed, with items broken. But the staff did not want to report any criminal mischief, according to a Sheriff's Office case report. The deputy called the person whose name was on the registration for one of the cabins, and "informed of the damages that were caused from his party, and he advised that he was going to make contact with the employees at (the campground)," according to the deputy's report.

BB gunslinger shoots up Jeep, garage door

5:51 p.m. First block of Lago Vista Place. Criminal mischief: A 44-year-old man heard an odd, repetitive noise outside his home at about 9:30 p.m. Feb. 19. He went outside to see what it was, but saw nothing amiss. The next day, though, he found several BB gun holes in the rear and side windows of his Jeep Cherokee, and more BB gun marks on the garage door. There was a BB gun pellet on the ground in front of the garage door. The man thought he knew who did it. Deputies tried to contact the suspected BB gunslinger, but he wouldn't answer the door. The victim told deputies that others had said the suspected BB gunslinger had boasted of carrying a handgun at all times, and that he'd recently bought a new BB gun. The victim said that there were times the suspected BB gunslinger had walked out onto the nearby golf course and fired his weapon several times, according to a Sheriff's Office case report.
