Flagler Palm Coast High School baseball coach Kyle Marsh has stepped down, athletic director Scott Drabczyk has confirmed on Thursday, June 4.

“He’s looking at other professional opportunities outside of the area,” Drabczyk said. “That’s what he shared with us. And I respect that.”

Marsh has not immediately responded to requests for comment.

Marsh has been the head baseball coach at FPC for four years, winning one district championship and leading the Bulldogs to the regional playoffs in three out of four years. He led FPC to its first Five Star Conference baseball tournament title in 2024 with wins against Seabreeze, Spruce Creek and Pine Ridge.

Marsh is also a head coach with the Orlando Scorpions travel baseball program, led by his former high school coach, Johnny Goodrich.

Marsh graduated from Spruce Creek High in 2014. As a high school sophomore, he led the Hawks to their first state championship in 2012, pitching to an 11-0 record with a 0.35 earned run average. He played college baseball as an infielder and pitcher at the University of Central Florida (2014-17) and at Embry-Riddle (2017-19). While still playing at Embry-Riddle, Marsh began coaching a youth travel team, Florida Extreme Baseball.

Marsh was an assistant coach at FPC under head coach Anthony Campanella in 2022 and was named the Bulldogs’ head coach after Campanella stepped down at the end of the season.

In his first season in 2023, Marsh led the Bulldogs to their first distrist title in eight years. This season, FPC posted its best record under Marsh with a 16-11 mark. Marsh compiled a 56-55 overall record at FPC, finishing with a winning record in three out of four seasons.

“Kyle has been very successful for us,” Drabczyk said. “He’s worked very hard to put our program into a very respectful state throughout the area.”

Drabczyk said Marsh has also done a great job in helping players find a place to play at the next level, whether in Divison I, Division II or junior college.

Drabczyk said FPC will post the job next week.

We’re starting the process [of advertising for a new coach]. We’re looking for someone who is going to continue the direction of where the program has been going the past few years.

“We’re starting the process [of advertising for a new coach],” he said. “We’re looking for someone who is going to continue the direction of where the program has been going the past few years.”

Drabczyk said in hiring coaches, the Bulldogs look for mentors who love the process of developing young men and women.

“We want them to love practice, love preparing,” he said. “We want transformational coaches, not transactional people. Transformational coaches want to pour into young people, trying to make them better human beings prepared to take on life after high school. Coaches that believe in the process and believe in development are typically the ones who are going to be most successful when it comes to wins and losses.”

Baseball has some added pieces, which includes field maintenance, he said.

“Kyle did an amazing job working on our facility and our field,” Drabczyk said. “He’s got great vision for facilities and branding. Go onto our field — the playing surface, if not the best, is one of the two best playing surfaces in Volusia, Flagler and St. Johns counties.”

High school head coaching experience is not a requirement, he said.

“We’re never going to paint ourselves in a corner when we’re looking for a candidate,” Drabczyk said. “I do think you have to have a high level of experience. But baseball is a little unique. You have lot of guys who play for a while professionally. We’re going to look at the full body of work, the full resume. Do they meet the Bulldogs’ standard? We’ve hired some coaches who have not had head coaching experience, and they’ve thrived.”
