Diesel fuel theft suspect caught at DeLand gas station

Grand theft. A Deltona man was arrested after investigators say he was caught attempting to steal diesel fuel from a Circle K gas station linked to a string of fuel thefts across Central Florida.
According to the Volusia Sheriff's Office, Circle K locations in Deltona and DeLand reported multiple diesel thefts on July 6 and July 12, totaling about 300 gallons of stolen fuel. Surveillance video captured the same white Ram 2500 pickup at each location, and detectives identified the registered owner using license plate reader data. Similar thefts were also reported in Sanford and Ocala.
The suspect's truck was entered into the statewide system as a felony vehicle. On Wednesday, a DeLand license plate reader alerted officers when the truck returned to the same Circle K where fuel had previously been stolen. Detectives found a large magnet commonly used to steal diesel fuel, an auxiliary fuel tank in the truck bed and a pry tool. Investigators also found an access panel on the fuel pump had been pried open.
The 40-year-old man was arrested on multiple larceny charges. Additional charges are possible as investigators continue to examine similar thefts in other jurisdictions.

Federal fugitive arrested during Daytona Beach operation

Federal warrant. A 30-year-old man wanted on a federal deportation order was arrested during a law enforcement operation at a Daytona Beach residence.
According to the Volusia Sheriff's Office, detectives located the suspect inside a garage with several other people where multiple firearms were within arm's reach. Everyone at the scene, including children inside the home, was secured without incident.
During the investigation, detectives recovered four handguns, including one reported stolen from Delray Beach, an AR-15-style rifle, a cash counter and digital scales. Investigators said the residence is connected to Operation Holy Rollers, a long-term drug trafficking investigation that previously resulted in more than 30 arrests. Daytona Beach police recently made more than 30 additional arrests as part of Operation Ice Breaker II.
The suspect was taken into custody on the federal deportation order.
