Daytona Beach is 150 years old. The city held a celebration at the Daytona Bandshell to kick off a historic weekend. People of all ages converged on the Daytona Bandshell up for “Illuminate the Decades” featuring decades of music, dancing, a drone show, stilts, roller skates, and choreographed dancers.
The party was hosted by DJ Tremble and Alyssa from The Morning Vibe show on 103.3. DJ Tremble played the most popular songs from each decade.
"I'm so grateful that everyone came to celebrate our 150th birthday with us," said Katie Prestwood, Daytona Beach community relations and events coordinator.
The dancers changed outfits to represent the styles of each era and had choreographed dances. One of the crowd favorites was the dance to “Bye Bye Bye” from the popular 1990s group NSYNC.
The night ended with a special Daytona Beach drone show that shared images specific to Daytona Beach’s unique history: race cars, checkered flags, the universities in the area, the state of Florida and the 150 year logo.
Daytona Beach was incorporated on July 26, 1876, by Matthias D. Day. The city will continue to celebrate its 150th birthday throughout 2026 with social media posts and scheduled events. For more info go to https://www.db150.com/
