Arvid passed away peacefully on July 14, 2026 in Palm Coast with his wife, Pat, by his side. Arvid was born in Pasadena, CA and was the son of the late Chester Olson and Mabel Park Olson. His two siblings, Allene Olson and Gilbert Olson, predeceased him.
Arvid graduated from San Ramon High School in Danville, CA in 1961 and attended California State College in Hayward, CA and from there attended the University of Pacific Dental School in San Francisco where he graduated in 1969.
Arvid practiced General Dentistry in El Cerrito, CA and during this time met and married Pat Wakeman. They spent 51 wonderful years together.
Arvid loved his country and traveling which led him to rejoin the Army in 1980 where he and Pat were stationed in Mainz, Germany for three years. Their favorite country was France. Many of Arvid’s friends thought he had a second home there!
Upon returning stateside they spent three years in Carmel, CA while stationed at Ft. Ord. They loved this assignment and had many close friends visit.
From there Arvid attended the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta and became a board certified Endodontist.
Arvid and Pat moved to Palm Coast in 1995 and Arvid became very active as a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and was a deacon for three years. Arvid was also a member of the Palm Coast Cruisers, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Elks Club and Kiwanis Club where he was President from 2022 to 2023.
Arvid loved a challenge and in 1999 opened up a Travel Agency in Palm Coast. Arvid and Pat escorted many groups for a number of years visiting the Caribbean and Europe. His love of photography inspired him to produce very professional DVD’s which included a number of specially selected music related to the island or country visited. These memento DVD’s were given out to all members of Arvid’s personally guided group. Together Arvid and Pat went on over 160 cruises.
For those who knew Arvid he was known for his unwavering faith, strength, kindness and a deep love for God and family. Arvid will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who was always willing to contribute both his time and support.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Palm Coast on Saturday October 3, 2026 at 11 am.
