On Friday, May 23, more than 820 students at Matanzas High School were rewarded with a day of fun, music and food as part of the school’s annual Spring Carnival, hosted by the MHS Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program. The event celebrated students who had remained referral-free throughout the fourth quarter since returning from spring break.
The carnival featured a wide variety of attractions, including inflatables, interactive games, a silent disco, and a live DJ spinning upbeat tracks in the gymnasium. The festive atmosphere gave students a well-earned break and a chance to enjoy time with their peers outside the classroom.
A standout feature of the event was the VIP treatment extended to the qualifying students. They were granted exclusive access to popular local food trucks and enjoyed special seating in the pavilion area, a touch that made the day even more memorable.
Student feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many calling the carnival the highlight of their semester. With such a strong turnout and enthusiastic reception, school officials are confident the Spring Carnival will continue to grow in scale and popularity in the years to come.
The PBIS program at Matanzas High continues to be a powerful motivator for student success, proving that recognition and reward can be just as important as academics in shaping a school’s culture.
