The FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools recognized its First Year Teacher award winners during a ceremony at Mainland High School on Tuesday, April 28.
Tomoka Elementary second grade teacher Emily Eaton received the Elementary First Year Teacher Award.
"Ms. Eaton is a wonderful addition to the Tomoka Family," Tomoka Elementary stated on its school Facebook page. "She has positively impacted our school her first year teaching. Her positive outlook and infectious enthusiasm brightens our campus. We are proud of you Ms. Eaton!"
Spruce Creek High School chemistry teacher John Renfro received the Secondary First Year Teacher Award.
"Principal Dr. Todd Sparger said Mr. Renfro's ability to analyze student misconceptions and adjust instruction accordingly is a hallmark of an effective teacher and something he demonstrates consistently," Volusia County Schools stated in a Facebook post.
