Palm Coast Songwriters Festival

When: May 1-4, times vary by performance

Where: Daytona State College Palm Coast Amphitheater, 545 Colbert Lane, Palm Coast

Swing Into Spring

MPT Rocks!

Details: Students will perform rock classics with a modern twist while showcasing their talents in music production. Free event.

DSC Spring Symphonic Concert

When: 7-9 p.m.

Where: News-Journal Center, 221 N. Beach St., Daytona Beach

Details: See the DSC Symphonic Band perform a diverse repertoire of classical and contemporary pieces. Sneaker Ball Gala

When: 6-10 p.m.

Where: Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Parkway Northeast, Palm Coast

Details: LLC Rise Above the Violence, Inc. is hosting this inaugural gala where attire is evening glam with sneakers. The theme is "Step into Greatness." Where: City Repertory Theatre, 160 Cypress Point Parkway, Unit B-207, Palm Coast

20th annual Arbor Day

When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: Central Park at Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast

Details: Celebrate Arbor Day with the City of Palm Coast. There will be a free tree giveaway, a walk-through butterfly tent, live performances from Palm Coast Community Band and The Dance Method, a children’s activity tent, petting zoo and free craft projects. Residents can receive a free 3-gallon tree in exchange for a non-perishable food item donation for the local food bank.

Art in the Park

When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 3; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive, Ormond Beach

Details: The City of Ormond Beach Department of Leisure Services and the Ormond Memorial Art Museum are presenting the 51st annual Art in the Park, which will showcase 100 artists and crafters. There will also be a kids craft zone, food trucks and live entertainment. Free admission. Visit ormondbeach.org.

Nature Journaling: Fireflies

When: 11 a.m. to noon

Where: Ormond Beach Environmental Discovery Center, 601 Division Ave., Ormond Beach

Details: Attend this event at the EDC and learn about the firefly life cycle and other firefly facts while creating a journal entry about fireflies. Program is designed for ages 13 and older. Beginners are welcome, and materials will be provided if needed.

Ormond Art Walk

When: 3-7 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach MainStreet Arts District, 128 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach

Details: Join Ocean Art Gallery, Frame of Mind, Art Spotlight, The Studio by Artist Angel Lowden, the Ormond Memorial Art Museum and more on the first Saturday of each month for art openings and art events.

Second annual Kentucky Derby Celebration and Casino Night

When: 4-8 p.m.

Where: Grand Haven Golf Club, 500 Riverfront Dr, Palm Coast

Details: The Grand Haven Woman’s Club is presenting this event, to include a a buffet, cash bar, live race, bourbon tasting, live auction, gift basket, 50/50 and more. Flagler Humane Society's Kentucky Derby Casino Night

When: 4:30-9:30 p.m.

Where: 42 Island Estates Parkway, Palm Coast

Details: Don your best Kentucky Derby hat and join the Flagler Humane Society for an evening of games and fundraising. There will be casino game tables, a derby hat contest, unlimited cocktails, a pool and hors' d'oeuvres. Tickets cost $125 per person or $200 per couple. Ormond Beach Lions Club's Kentucky Derby Party

When: 4:30 p.m.

Where: St James Episcopal Church 44 S. Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach

Pancake breakfast

When: 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church social hall, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd., Ormond Beach

Details: The Knights of Columbus Council 13018 is sponsoring a pancake breakfast. The OneBlood Big Red Bus will be onsite to accept blood donations, and all donors will receive a free pass to the breakfast to enjoy scrambled eggs, sausage, and all the pancakes you can eat, along with coffee and orange juice. OneBlood will also offer a free gift and a $20 eGift card in addition to a complimentary wellness checkup. Breakfast for non-donors costs $6, and kids under 12 eat free.

Plant, book and jewelry sale

When: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Temple Beth Shalom, 40 Wellington Drive, Palm Coast

Third annual Paws for Music

Details: Community Cats of Palm Coast is hosting this fundraiser featuring live music by Jeremy and Andrea from Are Friends Electric.
