Ormond travel agency grows through acquisition

Odyssey Travel in Ormond Beach has acquired a Boca Raton travel agency, expanding its presence to four Florida offices.

The acquisition of Unique Travel of Palm Beach, effective Aug. 1, united two long-standing Virtuoso-affiliated agencies and ensures uninterrupted service for existing clients, while enhancing luxury travel offerings throughout the state, a press release states.

Odyssey Travel was founded more than 40 years ago by Karen Upchurch. It has locations Jacksonville, Ormond Beach, Viera and now Boca Raton.

Unique Travel was founded more than 30 years ago by Sally Goldwasser. Upchurch and Goldwasser have worked together for decades as independent agency owners and were among the founding members of the Virtuoso luxury travel network.

The acquisition came after Goldwasser and her son Daniel decided to retire.

"We are excited to welcome the clients and talented advisors of Unique Travel into the Odyssey Travel family," said John N. Upchurch, president and CEO of Odyssey Travel. "For decades, Sally and Daniel have earned the confidence of their clients by delivering exceptional personal service. We are honored they have entrusted us with that legacy. Our commitment is simply to care for every client with the same professionalism and personal attention that made Unique Travel so respected"."
