Pranked

3:51 p.m. — 100 block of Willow Bend Lane, Ormond Beach

Burglary. An Ormond Beach resident called police to report a carbreak.

According to an incident report, the victim, had left his or her car unlocked. The missing items weren't far, however.

They had been placed in his neighbor's car — which had also been left unlocked. The neighbor, a 39-year-old Ormond Beach man, told police the suspect had gone through his belongings, but nothing was taken. He didn't wish to pursue any charges, and told officers he believed the whole incident to be a prank by some of the local juveniles.

Tea for tat

8:11 p.m. — 1500 block of North U.S. 1, Ormond Beach

Disturbance. Police responded to a local gas station convenience store after an employee reported that a 29-year-old Palm Coast man tried to steal from the store, leading to an altercation where he accidentally struck her with his truck.

When police arrived, the employee said the man had poured a bottled iced tea into a fountain drink cup, paying only for the latter. When confronted, the man — who later told police he had poured the drink into the cup because he "wasn't thinking — went to his truck and grabbed cash to pay for the bottled tea. The employee, however, refused to give him his change until police arrived as she intended to trespass him, according to an incident report.

He left the store, and the employee followed him, attempting to block him from leaving in his truck. The man told police he attempted to drive around her, but the truck "slightly slid" across her, the report states. The employee then threw a roll of trash bags at his truck.

The man claimed the employee threw a radio at his truck, causing a dent in his passenger side door and a broken front right mirror. He wished to pursue charges.

As video surveillance showed the man paid for his drink, didn't intentionally strike the employee and the fact the video showed the employee throwing the trash bags, not a radio, officers pressed no charges to either party.
