Read the signs

Loitering/prowling. Police arrested a 29-year-old man who was spotted loitering by a local closed movie theater building despite numerous "No Trespassing" signs in place.

According to an arrest report, police were patrolling the area as the building had recently been vandalized. Equipment and building fixtures were broken, and someone had painted graffiti on numerous surfaces.

As the reporting officer was driving near the building, he spotted the man, who looked at him before running into a wooded area between the building an a local plaza. The reporting officer approached the wooded area and upon seeing the man, yelled at him to come out.

The man, who is homeless, complied. He told the officer he ran from him because he didn't like to talk to police or people in general, the report states. He told police he thought the "No Trespassing" signs only applied to the building, and not its surroundings.

He was taken to jail.
