PDA Soccer partnered with Florida’s Special Olympics to host a 24-hour soccer marathon fundraiser Friday and Saturday Feb. 27-28, at Rymfire Elementary School’s gym.

The event began with the SO players playing with PDA’s 18U boys as their "buddies." Each hour PDA teams took the floor to continue the 24-hour game. All 20 PDA teams played in one-hour slots with the coaches making up the difference in the wee hours of the morning on the hard floor with the special futsal ball.

Players, coaches and parents who donated to the fundraiser will present a $5,000 oversized check at a ceremony to help send some of the SO athletes to the Special Olympics Summer Games.

"The 'buddy' game worked out great,” said Reg Monsanto, PDA’s coach. “Our PDA players helped the SO kids score goals, and they all just had fun.”
