Seabreeze won the boys championship in the High School 7v7 Summer Soccer League at Indian Trails Sports Complex.
The Seabreeze team defeated Pedro Menendez 11-6 on July 31 at the Indian Trails Sports Complex to finish the season with a perfect record.
Flagler Palm Coast’s Palms 2 team, coached by Stephen Usina, placed second.
Menendez won the girls A-team title over FPC’s “Troublemakers’’ on a tiebreaker based on goal differential.
FPC’s “Knuckleheads,” coached by Cat Bradley, won the B-team title. The team included 12 incoming freshmen.
The Palm Coast Big Buoys won the Orange State League championship on July 28 at the Indian Trails Sports Complex with a dramatic 7-5, 10-inning victory over the St. Augustine Sardines.
Matanzas High senior PJ Trettner hit a two-out, two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning and Owen McKinley pitched a scoreless bottom of the 10th to get the victory.
McKinley, a former Father Lopez player who pitches for New College of Florida, allowed one hit and one earned run over five innings.
Flagler Palm Coast grad Josh Fallon pitched the first five innings for the Big Buoys allowing two runs on six hits.
Broc Parmer also hit a home run in the game. Parmer is a former player at Pace High School, Gulf Coast State College and the University of Texas San Antonio. FPC grad Logan Shudy of Lesley University drove in three runs, including a two-run double to right in the sixth inning.
The Orange State League is a first-year collegiate wood bat baseball league. The Big Buoys were managed by James Timmons with Matanzas baseball coach Sean McManus serving as assistant coach.
FPC state champion weightlifter Nya Williams set a personal record lift of 220 pounds in the clean and jerk at the Flagler Open AAU meet on Aug. 1 in FPC’s 100 gym.
Former FPC baseball player Cody Clymer has announced he is transferring from Hillsborough Community College to Sumter State College for his final season of junior college baseball.
