From the Mickey Mouse Club to James Bond to the Passion of Christ, no Hollywood classic was off-limits for the Flagler County SynchroBelles at their annual water show themed “Hurray for Hollywood” on Sunday, May 31, at the Belle Terre Swim & Racquet Club.

The show began with the playing of the National Anthem, as all the Belles lined up behind Victoria Woroniecki, who stood with the US flag. Woroniecki was honored as the first Belle selected to the 13-15 national synchronized swim team and the first swimmer from Florida in 15 years.

Whether they skipped to the pool, donned in Wizard of Oz attire, surveyed the area with guns and black ties to the sound of James Bond’s theme music or strutted down the red carpet in pink pumps to Beyoncé’s greatest hits, the girls paid homage to some of the biggest movies and songs in show biz, past and present, donning the proper attire and bringing the videos to life in the swimming pool.

“The girls were outstanding, especially when you consider that they had to perform so many routines back-to-back with very little time of recovery,” coach Isabella Vasconcellos said. “That usually brings your body down rapidly, since you have to hold your breath for so long, so overall they did great.”

In addition of the two-hour show in the pool, those in attendance were given ample chances to take home hundreds of dollars or win 13 filled-to-the-brim themed baskets as raffle prizes. While many went home empty-handed, the first winner took the first three baskets with three consecutive winning tickets. The winner of the 50/50 drawing took 150 of the $300 donated to support Woroniecki’s national travel costs.

Up next for the SynchroBelles is the Junior Olympics, which will be held on June 27 to July 4, in Greensboro, North Carolina. For those interested in watching the local team compete at the national level, there will be a live webcast at www.livesynchro.com and http://takeitlive.tv/livesynchro.
