FPC blows out rival Matanzas for second straight win

The Lady Bulldogs shut out Matanzas 33-0 in the first quarter, and continued on to a 53-8 win Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Matanzas gym.

The Bulldogs have scored 108 points in their first two games of the season, while only allowing a total of 18 points. They have also forced the mercy rule in the third quarter in both games.

Tamara Henshaw and Armani Walker led the Bulldogs with 17 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Armani Walker had 15 points, five assists and six steals. Shanteria pitched in with six point and five rebounds.

Brooklyn Jimeson scored six points for the Lady Pirates, and Cassandra Hoffman got the other two, along with three rebounds.

“We asked them to execute, so they slowed the ball down, ran through our stuff, and it looked good,” coach Javier Bevacqua said. “It’s a perfect time to work on our game during live competition.

Matanzas’ coach Julie Huesser was proud of her team for breaking FPC’s press in the first quarter, and she also acknowledged that her team looked better from last year.
