An outpouring of support flooded in after an announcement was made on the Kase's Krusade Facebook page that 4-year Kase Powell had died Wednesday, March 5, of the brain tumor he had been battling since he was 21 months old.

"Kase is going to heaven and we need prayers now," was posted on the page, which has served as a forum for updates, as well as fundraiser information and community support during Kase's struggle.

Three-hundred-and-fifty-nine people commented on the status update, sending condolences; 259 people liked it to show their support; and 98 people shared the post on their personal Facebook walls, in solidarity.

Diagnosed with pilomyxoid astrocytoma in August 2011, Kase had an event to raise funds for his treatment organized quickly in his honor and hosted the next month at Sonny's Real Pit Bar-B-Q. The "A Kiss from Kase" drive became an annual community event.

Supporters have even followed Kase's story online, not only on Facebook but also at LittleKaseman.net.

Kase Powell was born Dec. 11, 2009, three minutes after his twin brother, Knox, was born.

A funeral will be held Tuesday.
