Last season, FPC went 3-7. Next season, the Bulldogs will run the I-formation.

The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs will play their spring game 7 p.m. Friday, May 25, at Bartram Trail.

The Bulldogs lost 10 seniors from last season’s team, and coach Caesar Campana has overhauled the defense and offense heading into the spring game and next season.

Offensively, the Bulldogs switch from the Wing-T to the I-formation.

This will cater to the size of the running backs and the offensive line, Campana said.

Jimmie Robinson, who will be a sophomore next season, will be the team’s feature back. Campana said because Robinson is smaller — just a little taller than 5 feet — it will be difficult for the defense to pick him up behind the offensive line.

Willie Gardner (wide receiver) and Dustin Bowens (tight end), two sizeable threats on offense, have already been recruited by Division I schools.

Marcel Williams moves to safety and Turrel Mathews will move from running back to WR and defensive back. Jake Dempsey shifts to offensive line from defensive line.

On the defensive side, the Bulldogs will move away from the 5-2 scheme to a 33-stack, Campana said.

In other words, now, there will be three down defensive lineman, three linebackers and five defensive backs.

“We are bigger, stronger and faster than last year,” Campana said, adding that his team has had a great spring.

Campana said he dressed 75 players for the Green vs. White game, and he hopes to field 120 players when fall comes around.
