For many people, perfect is simply an adjective, but for Morgan Lambert, it has become reality.

Lambert, a sophomore pitcher for Flagler Palm Coast, threw a perfect game Thursday night in the Lady Bulldogs’ 10-0 win over Atlantic, at home.

In five innings of work, Lambert struck out 14 of the 15 batters she faced. Nobody reached base, not even on an error. Lambert essentially beat Atlantic by herself with her pitching and hitting. At the plate, Lambert went 3-for-3 with three doubles and four RBIs.

“Morgan’s rise ball worked great tonight,” FPC coach Sarah Poppe said after the game. “She had good movement on her pitches. She was able to get ahead in the counts, too.”

Although this wasn’t Lambert’s first no-hitter, it was her first perfect game.

In the first two games this season for FPC (2-0), Lambert has pitched 11 innings, struck out 20 batters, walked three, and has earned two wins. She has only allowed one run and three hits. The only run against Lambert this season came in the first inning of FPC’s win Tuesday night against Spruce Creek. The Lady Bulldogs won the game, 11-1, in six innings.

Morgan transferred to FPC from Calvary Christian this summer. Last season, as a freshman, she hit .590 and had a .072 ERA.

Also in the game Thursday night, Sam Mittel went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, and Lee Ann Spivey went 3-for-4. The Lady Bulldogs scored 10 runs on 15 hits.

The Lady Bulldogs play Pierson Taylor 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at home.
