Some of the best track-and-field athletes in Northeast Florida — along with their cartoon crew socks — speckled the Flagler Palm Coast track Thursday, April 26, as Sal Campanella Memorial Statdium was the site of the Region 1, Class 4A meet.

In boys, Flagler Palm Coast finished in ninth place out of 25 teams. On the girls side, the Lady Bulldogs finished 20th out of 29 teams.

Individually, Flagler Palm Coast advances one individual and one relay team to next weekend’s Class 4A state meet.

Kadeem Williams, a junior, blew away the field in his preliminary heat in the 300-meter hurdles. In the finals, Williams took second place, finishing in 38.30 seconds — .55 seconds behind the first-place finisher.

The girls’ 4x400-meter relay team comprising Devonne Friday, Paige Way, Christen Barney and Sarah Diloreto finished in fourth place in a time of 4 minutes, 3 seconds.

The Class 4A state meet will be Saturday, May 5, at the University of North Florida, in Jacksonville.
