Just 1 Book, a program designed to recycle books, launched in Flagler County June 2, at the Flagler County Public Library.

The program, developed by Sarah Dewitz, of Orlando, is designed to have free books available throughout communities for children.

At its June 1 dance, the Flagler County Youth Center collected more than 350 books to be donated to the program. Also, the center’s Student Advisory Council, led by chair Nick Ohree, voted to award the group $500 to assist with the initiative.

New and gently used children’s books may be dropped off in the Just 1 Book box at the Flagler County Public Library.

Books will be distributed at the Carver Center, the health department, Access Flagler and other locations to be determined.
