Rob Wood, a 15-year resident of Flagler County, filed on Friday, May 1, to run for the Flagler School Board's District 2 seat. Wood is running against incumbent Will Furry.
Wood, an Air Force veteran, is currently the senior manager of program faculty at Western Governors University’s School of Business. In a press release he describes himself as a “conservative voice on fiscal discipline and accountable governance.”
He said his candidacy is focused on student outcomes, supporting educators in the classroom and ensuring every Flagler graduate is prepared for college, a trade, the military or a career.
“I want this seat focused on what matters most: the students in our classrooms, the educators who serve them and the outcomes of their shared effort,” he said. “Parents in Flagler want their kids reading on grade level, their teachers supported and their schools safe. They want a board focused on results, not on theater. That’s where my focus will be.”
Wood served 11 years in the Air Force as a technical sergeant. His wife, Stacy, taught in Flagler County schools for over eight years and now serves as a manager of program faculty at WGU’s School of Education.
Wood also owns an exterior cleaning company and is president of BNI Prestige Partners, a chapter of 58 local business owners. He is a member of Redemption City Church in Daytona Beach.
