Earlier this year, the Grind underwent a transformation and rebrand, marking a new chapter for the local staple in Ormond Beach's downtown.
A new menu. A new logo. More emphasis on its Kona Tiki Bar.
"It was time for a little bit of an update," said restaurant owner Kevin Wakefield to the Observer during a Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours event on May 13.
The restaurant, located at 49 W. Granada Blvd., first opened in 2013, as The Grind Gastropub and Kona Tiki Bar.
In February, the restaurant announced its rebrand as the Grind at Kona Tiki Bar on its Facebook page. Wakefield and his team renovated the interior of the restaurant to complement its tiki bar, rebuilt the tiki bar roof and refreshed the menu — keeping favorite dishes while introducing new items.
"People want knew and they want change and they want to see things that are fresh and exciting," Wakefield said.
