Kate Osborn Bromley Hitchcock Mashamesh, 93, of Palm Coast, FL, passed away peacefully in her home on April 23, 2026. She was surrounded by the love of her family. Her daughters will cherish her memory.
Kate was born and raised in Nyack, NY. Growing up her hobbies were singing in her church choir and performing with choral groups and drama clubs.
She graduated from Plattsburgh State Teachers College and began a career that spanned almost 50 years. She taught in the Islip Public School system in Long Island, NY for 25 years; then after moving to Florida she became a full-time substitute teacher in Flagler County. She loved her students and they loved her back.
In addition to educating children, Kate loved dogs. In NY she owned and showed whippets. Then after moving to FL she became active with the GPA (Greyhound Pets of America) where she volunteered and helped find homes for retired racers.
Kate loved to entertain and throw dinner parties where there was always good food, laughter and singing. She was known for her wit, her spunk and her ability to make people laugh. She will be greatly missed by her friends, neighbors, church family and fellow choir members.
She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth (Betsy) Bromley Jones of Palm Coast and Robyn Bromley Schaper (Timothy D. Schaper) of Concord, NH, four grandsons, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 18, 2026, at 11am at St. Thomas Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Flagler Humane Society.
