G. Carol Fabbrini, devoted mother, gifted musician, and lifelong educator, passed away on January 31, 2026, in Richmond, Virginia. She was 92 years old.

Born in 1933 in Royal Oak, Michigan, Carol grew up in a home where curiosity, learning, and music were cherished. Her exceptional musical talent emerged early, and she pursued it with unwavering dedication. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano from the University of Michigan, where her artistry flourished. She later completed her academic journey with a PhD in Music Education from Columbia University, a testament to her deep commitment to teaching and to the transformative power of music.

After meeting her husband, Alfred, Carol settled in northern New Jersey, where they raised their family and built a warm, supportive home. It was there that she discovered her true calling as a music educator in the Newark, New Jersey school system. Carol approached teaching with patience, joy, and a belief that every child deserved access to the world of music. She opened doors for countless students, many of whom went on to pursue musical careers shaped by her encouragement and guidance.

One of her proudest professional achievements was preparing her school choir to perform Handel’s Messiah under the direction of renowned American composer William L. Dawson—a remarkable opportunity that left a lasting imprint on her students and community.

Carol will be remembered for her kindness, gentleness, and deep concern for others. She was a loving mother who cared profoundly about her children’s welfare and guided them through life’s challenges with wisdom and compassion. Her presence brought comfort; her patience created space for growth; her love shaped the lives around her.

Carol is predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred, her brother Robert, and her sister Rosemary. She is survived by her two sons, Mark and Chris, and her daughter in law, Bernice, who will carry forward her memory with gratitude and affection.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s by the Sea Lutheran Church in Palm Coast, Florida, on May 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. The committal of her ashes will take place on May 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vanderbilt University Memory and Alzheimer’s Center, supporting research and care for those affected by memory disorders.

Carol’s life was a quiet symphony of dedication, generosity, and grace. Her music lives on in the countless hearts she touched.
