The Philippine American Association of Palm Coast (PAAPC) commemorated the 128th anniversary of Philippines Independence Day with a community celebration June 14 at the Italian American Social Club.
A highlight of the evening was an inspiring address by Honorary Consul Sharol Noblejas of the Philippine Consulate in Florida, who spoke about the importance of preserving Filipino traditions and strengthening the bonds between the Philippines and Filipino communities throughout the United States.
Guests enjoyed an evening filled with cultural pride and entertainment, including performances by The Jewels, who showcased traditional Filipino folk dances.
"Philippine Independence Day is an opportunity to honor our history, celebrate our culture and bring people together in a spirit of unity and friendship," said Judy Ostrin, president of PAAPC. "We are proud to share our heritage with the Palm Coast and Flagler County communities while continuing to build bridges of understanding and cultural appreciation."

As part of the community's observance of Filipino Heritage Month, the Philippine American Association of Palm Coast invites residents to explore a special cultural exhibit at the Palm Coast Library through July 11.
The exhibit highlights the history of the Philippines and the experiences of Filipino Americans through photographs, traditional clothing, handcrafted bags, educational displays, indigenous artwork, wood carvings and cultural artifacts. The official month for Filipino Heritage is in October, however it is widely celebrated in June for the recognition of the Independence Day from Spain. Visitors can learn about the country's journey to independence, its diverse regions and customs, and the traditions that continue to be passed down through generations.
"Palm Coast is a close-knit community, and we are proud to share a part of our heritage with the neighbors and friends who make this community so special," said Aileen Mariano, PAAPC vice president.
