Mike was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 8, 1953, where he spent his youth. He enlisted in the Air Force at 17 and flew many combat missions in Vietnam. He loved flying, but that ended when a plane accident grounded him. Next, he moved into air traffic controlling, initially for the military and then the FAA as a controller for the Chicago Center in Aurora, Illinois.

His next challenge, the insurance industry, where he was known as a strong leader, trainer and mentor, both for Aetna Insurance and AIG. He never turned down a challenge, taking failing offices and once more making them profitable. He was known as a “Turn Around Junkie”, loving every moment of his work.

In 2000 he retired: moved to Baja, Mexico, built out his beach home and enjoyed the next 20 years living on the ocean. During this time, he became active in the Homeowners Association, serving in multiple positions including President, several times. Enjoying woodworking he made toys for the local orphanages as yearly Christmas gifts and completed various projects for friends and family. Cooking was his real passion developing many recipes which he freely shared. His creations filled three large cookbooks.

His final adventure was moving to Florida to be closer to his family. He passed on April 11, 2025 in his home. He is survived by his wife, Chris: sister Pat (John); daughter Marianne (Randy); son, Sean (Donna): two granddaughters as well as a great grandson.

His passing has been felt by his many friends and family across the United States and Baja, Mexico.

As per his wishes, he was cremated with the ashes passed to his wife, daughter and son. Chris will release hers into the ocean he so dearly loved. No formal services will be held; however, a private Celebration of Life will take place later this year.
