The city of Ormond Beach is offering two scholarships to its Enviro Camp 2024.

Children ages 7 to 12 are invited to participate in the Joyce Ebbets Scholarship Fund Essay Contest and two will be selected to attend one session of the Environmental Discovery Center's summer camp for free, according to a city flyer. The deadline to submit essays is March 22.

The first session for Enviro Camp will be held from June 3 to June 28 and is open to children 10-12 years old. The second session will run from July 8 to Aug. 2 and is open to children 7-9 years old.

The prompt for the first session asks students to write about threatened Florida species and why protecting their population is important for the environment. The prompt for the second session asks students to write about how to reduce waste to protect natural resources.

The scholarships are funded by donations made in memory of late City Commissioner Joyce Ebbets.
