Food Brings Hope Community’s Homes Brings Hope — which facilitates homeownership for families, mostly in the 32114 zip code — was recently awarded a $10,000 grant from the Florida Blue Foundation to support continued efforts in increasing homeownership.
Homes Bring Hope’s Founder and Chair Forough B. Hosseini maintains a vision to empower the entire community and reduce the poverty rate by 10% by 2030 through prosperity pathways and strategic agency alliances, according to a press release.
Sixteen families have become homeowners because of their participation in the Homes Bring Hope program.
Participants on the path to homeownership begin the process with HBH's Prosperity Program, which has 41 families enrolled. This program provides comprehensive support for families in planning and preparation for homeownership. Services include credit counseling, debt reduction strategies, HUD Homeownership counseling, applications for downpayment assistance through the city of Daytona Beach and other sources. Staff members provide guidance and direction for families throughout this process, which in some cases may take a few years. There are currently nearly 20 families who are at or approaching pre-qualification readiness.
