Ormond Beach Elks award $12,000 in scholarships

This year, the Ormond Beach Elks Lodge awarded a total of $4,000, as well as an additional $8,000 on behalf of the Elks National Foundation.

On May 5, 2023, the Ormond Beach Elks Lodge held its annual scholarship banquet, in conjunction with Cinco de Mayo, to honor some of the area’s brightest high school seniors with well-deserved scholarships.

This year, the Ormond Beach Elks Lodge awarded a total of $4,000, as well as an additional $8,000 on behalf of the Elks National Foundation, bringing this year’s scholarship total to $12,000. Special guests included students, parents, grandparents, principals, school administrators, East Central District ENF Scholarship Chairman Paul Leonard and Ormond Beach Mayor Bill Partington.  

Receiving Ormond Beach Elks Lodge Scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each were: 

  • Caroline Klayer, Seabreeze High School
  • Annabelle Abrantes, Father Lopez Catholic High School
  • Isabella Najduch, Spruce Creek High School
  • Trevor Lagarde, Monroe-Woodbury High School in Central Valley, New York. 

In addition, the Lodge presented two Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each to Seabreeze High School student Alyssa Capel and Father Lopez Catholic High School student Annabelle Abrantes.

Annually, the Elks National Foundation awards a total of 500 Most Valuable Student Scholarships, nationwide, totaling over $2 million. The five scholars and their families were treated to dinner, and each recipient was presented with a certificate.
