The Capt. James Ormond Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution welcomed Marcea Oetting at its meeting on March 27.

Oetting spoke based on the diaries and letters by former First Lady Abigail Adams, wife of second U.S. President John Adams and mother of sixth U.S. President John Quincy Adams. Abigail Adams was one of only two women who were both the wife and mother of a president, and according to the DAR, was a pioneer in the fight for liberty and equal rights for women.

The local DAR chapter was founded in 1966. To learn more, visit fssdar.com/CaptainJamesOrmondDAR.
