One of Palm Coast’s three water treatment plants will be closed for about a week for planned maintenance.

The plant closed Feb. 7 and is expected to stay closed through Feb. 14 as workers upgrade the electrical system, according to a press release from the city’s utility department.

The city does not anticipate any water use restrictions or other adverse impacts on services, the press release said.

The shutdown will result in minor pressure and flow changes in the city’s distribution system, the press release said.

The plant was built in the 1970s and still contains the  wiring and control panels for the original 2-million-gallon-per-day system. The plant’s current capacity is 6 million gallons per day, the press release said.
