The Community Foundation and United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties cohosted a financial symposium with the Estate Planning Council of the Fun Coast on Nov. 14.

"One of the most valuable aspects of the financial symposium is the opportunity for our community to convene and explore pertinent subjects, all while earning the essential credits required by professional advisors," a press release stated. "The primary objective is to foster a sense of unity within the community, equipping individuals with the skills necessary to thrive in today's world of planned giving. Additionally, we facilitate meaningful connections between non-profits and financial advisors."

Attendees participated in up to three sessions: Creative Charitable Planning with Non-Cash Assets, Planned Giving with a Shoestring Staff & Shoestring Budget, and Developing Community Foundation Board Birddogs. Leading the sessions was the founder of Charitable Solutions, Bryan Clontz.

“We have seen a shift in how donors plan to give back to the community," said Courtney Edgcomb, president and CEO of the Community Foundation and United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties. "Many prefer to give noncash asset gifts. Our aim is to empower local nonprofits with a strong foundation in harnessing the potential of noncash gifts, even when operating with limited resources and a small staff."
