National Wreaths Across America Day will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, and the Capt. James Ormond Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will host a service at Hillside Cemetery in Ormond Beach.

For the past four years, the local DAR chapter has hosted the program at the cemetery, located at 143 Seton Trail, in remembrance of the 145 veterans buried there with the placement of wreaths. According to a press release, the chapter is hoping to make this year's service more memorable.

The chapter doesn't receive any money from Wreaths Across America for the service. For every two wreaths purchased through the chapter, its members receive a free wreath. With overage funds going to the following year, the chapter is able to afford all the needed wreaths, the press release states. Family members have also come in previous years to lay wreaths on their veteran family member's grave.
