10:49 p.m. — 1600 block of North U.S. 1, Ormond Beach
Unarmed burglary. Law enforcement units responded to a local motel after an employee reported that she had left her desk area for five minutes to use the bathroom and upon her return, found a lockbox in a chair. When she opened it, the cash inside was missing.
The motel's general manager told police that she had identified the woman who took the money using surveillance video footage, saying the 47-year-old Daytona Beach suspect was also "high on crack-cocaine" and driving an unreported stolen car. The general manager informed police the woman was her mother and a former general manager of the motel herself. The woman had stolen a total of $5578. The general manager wished to pursue charges.
Police from a neighboring agency attempted to make contact with the woman; she didn't answer the door and did not appear to be home. Police completed a charging affidavit. The woman had no prior theft convictions.
2:25 a.m. — First block of Riverside Drive, Ormond Beach
Burglary. Police responded to a residence in response to an occupied burglary. The resident reported that an unknown person threw something through a rear window and entered his home, but ran back out once confronted.
According to an incident report, the resident could not provide a description of the person because it was dark. He said that he had been sleeping upstairs when he was awoken by the sound of glass breaking. He came downstairs and spotted the individual, who immediately exited out the same window. A second resident of the home told police that she had heard noises coming from outside of her bedroom window prior to the break-in, but believed them to be caused by an animal.
Police report the object used to break the home's window was a cement pagoda statue. A male suspect was identified based on items left behind in the crime, including a pay stub with his name and address. The damage to the window was estimated at $1,500. The homeowner wished to press charges.
8:02 p.m. — First block of Soco Trail, Ormond Beach
Burglary. Police were dispatched to a residence after receiving a call that someone had attempted to break in a couple hours earlier.
The homeowner told officers that she had not been home at the time of the attempted burglary, but that she had gotten an alert on her Ring camera about motion occurring at her front door. The footage showed a white woman with dark hair and a blue shirt with the words "Sip Crew" on the back. She was seen trying to open the front screen door of the home, but it was locked.
She then tried to manipulate the Ring camera, but doesn't take it off the front door. She looked underneath a ceramic decoration, possibly trying to find a key, but left the residence soon thereafter.
The homeowner wished to press charges.
