A new scholarship will help support Daytona State College students who want to become registered nurses through DSC's Bob & Carol Allen School of Nursing.

Ormond Beach chiropractor Dr. Larry Petker and his family have established the Sandi Petker RN Endowed Scholarship fund with $25,000 through the Daytona State College Foundation in memory of Petker's wife, Sandi, who died last December, according to a news release from DSC.

Sandra “Sandi” Kaye Pruitt Petker, a West Virginia native, graduated from Daytona Beach Community College (now Daytona State College) in 1966 and worked as a nurse for 32 years, mostly at Halifax Health Medical Center.
