Quilting Help and making fidget quilts

When: 9:30 a.m. to noon

Where: Ormond Beach Library, 30 S Beach St., Ormond Beach

Details: The Mother Hen group of the Racing Fingers Quilt Guild hosts a community outreach meeting on the second Thursday of the month. They welcome anyone who has quilting questions, wants information about the guild, wants to sit and sew with the group, or wants to make fidget quilts for donation to Alzheimer and dementia patients. Where: Mimi's Original Art Gallery, 1385 N. U.S. 1, Ormond Beach

Movies in the Park

When: 8:45-10:45 p.m.

Where: Central Park at Town Center, 975 Central Ave., Palm Coast

Details: Bring your blanket, lawn chairs, picnic baskets and watch "Hook," rated PG, at Central Park. This event is presented by Palm Coast Parks and Recreation. 

Saturday, Aug. 13

11th-annual Surfers for Autism

When: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Flagler Beach Municipal Pier, Flagler Beach

Details: Spectators are invited to watch this annual surfing event. Surfers will take to the water from 9 a.m. to noon and then 1-4 p.m. There will be exhibitors, raffles, and a merchandise tent available on the beach throughout the day. 

Low-cost pet shot clinic

When: 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Where: Astro Skate, 251 N. US 1, Ormond Beach

Details: Get your pet vaccinated at a lower cost. Rabies shots will cost $5 for 1-year vaccinations. Other shots offered include dog distemper/parvo combo, dog flu, cat distemper combo, feline leukemia and more. Heartworm prevention and flea control products will be available for purchase. All vaccinations are administered with a licensed veterinarian. 'Taking Woodstock'

Details: See this exhibition by the Colored Pencil Society of America District Chapter 117, of St. Augustine. The opening reception will take place from 1-3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7.

Art in Harmony

Details: This exhibition showcases new painting, sculptures and photographs by 12 regional and national contemporary artists, including several of whom who are local. 

Water|Ways

Where: African American Museum and Cultural Center of Florida, 4422 N. U.S. 1, Palm Coast

Details: The African American Museum and Cultural Center of Florida, in partnership with the Florida Humanities, presents, "Water|Ways," a traveling exhibition from the Smithsonian's Museum on Main Street program. Water|Ways explores the endless motion of the water cycle, water's effect on landscape, settlement and migration, and its impact on culture and spirituality.
