Beware of a man in a red mustang

7:47 p.m. — Intersection of Harvard Drive and Marvin Road

Sex offense. A 26-year-old Ormond Beach woman called police after a man in a red Ford mustang exposed his genitals to her while on a residential road.

The woman told officers that she had been walking east on Marvin Road when the driver of the mustang stoped, facing south, at the intersection with Harvard Drive. As she passed by the vehicle, the man, described to a Caucasian man in his 30s, asked for directions to Ridgewood Avenue, and also asked if she had a boyfriend. The woman informed him that she was married and gave him the directions he asked before beginning to walk away, according to the police report.

The man then called out to her again, and when she turned around, she saw him expose himself. He held cash in one hand and offered to pay her to watch him. The woman called police as she walked away, and the man drove off.

Police later stopped a man driving a red mustang in town, but he was not the man who exposed himself. Several neighbors were made aware of the incident, which occurred in proximity to a high school, and urged to call police if a red mustang was seen in the area again.

Pleading the fifth

5:11 p.m. — Intersection of North U.S. 1 and Wilmette Avenue

DUI. Police arrested a 45-year-old Ormond Beach woman who caused rear end car crash while driving under the influence, and subsequently fled the scene on foot.

The crash victim told police that after the crash, the woman tried to "go around her to leave" and offered money to be let go, the police report states. Officers located the woman in a grassy area in front of local businesses, and when asked what happened, the woman "plead the fifth" and refused to answer questions. Police read her rights to her, and the woman asked why. She was informed that they were starting a DUI investigation, to which the woman replied she hadn't been driving. She refused to complete any field sobriety exercises.

She was transported to the police department, where she became "irate" and started calling officers names. She claimed "that her father is a cop and will wipe the floor with us," the report states. She refused to provide a breath sample.

The woman was taken to jail.

Sept. 26

Gross encounters

12 p.m. — 800 block of South Atlantic Avenue

Vandalism. Human feces was found on an automated external defibrillator at a local park, a crime notified by a city employee who alerted a police officer on patrol.

The machine, which is only meant to be used for emergencies, had been taken from its case, and left on the ground, where more human feces was present, according to the police report. The pads on the defibrillator looked to have been used. Police couldn't determine who removed the machine, as there are no security cameras on the property.
